Privacy.

This notice explains what personal information we collect through quayseven.com, why we collect it, and what happens to it. Quay Seven (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2019/056020/07) is responsible for that information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

When you send us your site, the enquiry form collects your name, your email address, your website’s address, and your answers to its two questions. Giving us this information is voluntary, but without it we can’t reply to your enquiry. Please don’t include anything sensitive, such as health or financial details, in your answers.

The website doesn’t use cookies or advertising trackers. To see how many people visit and which pages they read, we use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. Like every website, it needs your device’s IP address to send you its pages, and our hosting provider keeps that in its logs for a short time.

How we use it

We use what you send only to look at your site, reply to you, and, if you decide to work with us, agree and carry out the work. We don’t use it for marketing, and we don’t sell it or pass it on to anyone else.

Under POPIA, we process it because you asked us to: it’s needed to respond to your request and to take the steps towards an agreement that you’ve asked for.

Who handles it for us

Three service providers handle your enquiry on our behalf, each under its own data protection terms:

  • Vercel hosts the website, runs the form, and counts visits, in the United States.
  • Resend sends your enquiry to our mailbox, from its servers in Ireland, and keeps a copy for 30 days.
  • Google holds our email, in its Google Workspace service.

Information sent outside South Africa

These providers store and process information outside South Africa, including in the United States and Ireland. We send it there because it’s needed to respond to your request (POPIA, section 72(1)(c)), and each provider is bound by data protection terms that protect it in ways comparable to POPIA (section 72(1)(a)).

How long we keep it

If an enquiry doesn’t lead to work, we delete it within 12 months. If you become a client, we keep the related records for as long as the law requires, usually five years for tax purposes.

How we protect it

Your enquiry is sent over an encrypted connection, and the accounts that hold it are protected by strong passwords and two-step verification.

Your rights

You may ask us whether we hold personal information about you, ask to see it, and ask us to correct or delete it. You may also object to how we use it. Email us at hello@quayseven.com and we’ll reply as soon as we can. Requests to see records are handled under our PAIA manual.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator: Woodmead North Office Park, 54 Maxwell Drive, Woodmead, Johannesburg, 2191; POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za; 010 023 5200.
